NWBA Summer Camps

NWBA Summer Wheelchair Basketball Camp

The NWBA has recently received funding to assist in hosting 3 summer camps during 2013.  These summer camps will provide an introduction for some and elite instruction for others in the sport of wheelchair basketball.  Interested participants planning on attending this camp will participate in a variety of drills focusing on individual development and team concepts.  The head instructor  for the camps will range from the NWBA’s elite coaches at the International level and Intercollegiate Division level.  Camp instructors will be from the USA Wheelchair Basketball Program or a NWBA Intercollegiate Division Program.

These camps will give individuals the opportunity to learn about the sport of wheelchair basketball, interact with veterans, wounded warriors and current NWBA members.  This 2-3 day long camp will be a great way for individuals to grow in all areas.

Who is Eligible to Attend?

Military Veterans, Wounded Warriors in Transition and Active Duty Wounded Warriors.  NWBA athletes ages 18 and older.  Adults who want to learn more about the sport of wheelchair basketball.  All participants must have permanent lower limb impairment.  If you are unsure if you are eligible to attend please contact Sherrice Fox.

Camp Staff

The staff for each camp will depend on the area of the camp.  All staff members will be coaches and players from the International level and Intercollegiate Division level.


Housing will be provided free of charge to all veterans and military personnel.  Housing is included in your registration fees for all NWBA participants.

Total Cost

The registration fee is free for all veterans and wounded warriors.  The cost for NWBA and other participants is $250.  This includes your meals, housing (based on double occupancy), transportation to/from the airport and transportation to/from gym and hotel.  All participants will only be responsible for transportation to and from the city of the camp they are attending.

Camp Locations

Camp 1: July 26-28, University of Texas- Arlington
Camp 2: August 14-15, Ft. Knox, KY  
Camp 3: September 6-8, Mentor, OH at SPIRE Institute


Attendant Care

All attendees must be self-sufficient in all daily activities of daily living as there will be no care services provided by the camp.  Attendees are welcome to bring personal care attendants at their own expense.
