Bruce Fischbach has been involved in athletics seemingly forever. Since graduation from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1984 he has worked in college and professional athletics. He has spent the past 26 years as the Director of Sports Medicine for the University of South Dakota.
Following his son Dylan’s introduction to the sport of wheelchair basketball in 2004, Bruce has become increasingly involved with wheelchair basketball and the NWBA. He has helped the Nebraska Red Dawgs host national tournaments, serving as assistant tournament director in 2006 and as tournament director for the NWBA National Junior Varsity Tournament in 2008.
From 2008-11 Bruce served as the Junior Northern Conference Commissioner, introducing corporate sponsorship of the conference tournament and eliminating the need for conference dues.
In 2011, Bruce was elected to the Junior Division Executive Committee and served until 2013.
Bruce joined the NWBA Board of Directors in 2013 and serves as secretary.
Outside of his work in sports medicine and the NWBA, Bruce serves as a wish granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of South Dakota, is the faculty advisor for Colleges Against Cancer which sponsors the local Relay for Life, and is active in the South Dakota Athletic Trainers Association.
