Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! We hope you were able to get some great family time in during the holiday. This year, we asked some of our High Performance players to tell us their favorite part about Thanksgiving and what they’re most thankful for! Check it out:

FROM THE ATHLETES:

My favorite part about Thanksgiving is getting to be around a bunch of people that all care about each other. Whether it is my own family or someone else's I always seem to end up with an awesome group of people to spend the holiday with. I would have to say that is also what I am most thankful for, not everyone gets to spend the holidays with the people they love and some don't even get to eat a Thanksgiving dinner at all. So I am thankful to have such good people in my life and I am thankful to have food to eat and to have been given the opportunities that I have been given in my life.

–Megan Blunk

It’s tough to say just one favorite part about Thanksgiving! It would have to be a combination of being with my Parents, Meg & Brady in the house I grew up in, Mom & Meg’s cooking and “counting my blessings.” Oh yeah – and seeing the hoop and slab of concrete to the side of the house where I learned to play wheelchair basketball. I am most thankful for voice recognition software. I just recently got a finger injury and couldn’t ype for a while. I’m better now! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The usual food coma-induced nap has to be the best part of the day for me by far! I am most thankful for the opportunity and support of others that make it possible to wake up every morning and swing for the fences. Having a great team supporting you is they key to success and I am thankful for everyone who is a part of mine!

My favorite part of thanksgiving is the shameless feasting! I also enjoy the fact that it's another day that brings you together with the people you love. People lead busy lives and can't always find the time to spend with loved ones. Holidays like this gives you that opportunity. I'm most thankful for my amazing and incredibly supportive family and friends. Everything I do is for them. I work my butt off to make them all proud and I'm thankful to have them motivating and fueling my career.

– Matt Scott

My favorite part of Thanksgiving is simply being around friends and family all day.  Unfortunately that has changed majorly since I moved away from the USA to Germany 8 years ago.  I am the first ever American to play for the club team here and made sure I brought the Thanksgiving tradition with me.  So what we do is find a Sunday every year right around Thanksgiving to celebrate with my wife's family along with some of our close friends.  It is awesome and nothing short of a good ol' home Thanksgiving as there is even football running since kickoff is at 7PM local time here in Giessen.

I am most thankful for all of my family.  It is so great how much support I have received from them with where basketball has taken me.  They have also come to watch me play across the USA and around the world to support and cheer my teams on.

My favorite part of Thanksgiving is getting together with my family and playing board games together and eating lots of food…I am so thankful for having a loving family who is so supportive!
