COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Intercollegiate Division Executive Committee for the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) is excited to announce that Curtis “Gus” Lease has been elected as Intercollegiate Division President and Gary Nesvacil has been re-elected as Intercollegiate Division At-Large Member.

Lease has a long history in the sport, starting as a player at the University of Illinois, where he was a four-time All-American and was a recipient of the Sportsmanship Award for the Intercollegiate Division. He was inducted into the NWBA Intercollegiate Division Hall of Fame in 2018. He has remained involved in the game after playing, as he currently coaches the LWSRA/Synergy Junior Hawks and was a member of the NWBA Executive Board.

"A collegiate program at the University of Illinois is where it all started for me,” said Lease. “To me, this is giving back and making sure the division continues to grow and bring through the next generation of adaptive sports athletes.”

Nesvacil brings over two decades of officiating experience to this role, starting as a student at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He boasts a resume that features officiating a NWBA Division I National Championship Game and eight (8) Intercollegiate Division Natonal Championship contents.

Nesvacil shared, "I am thankful to serve another term on this board. I fell in love with this sport from the first time I stepped on the court, and I still have that passion and want to ensure our student-athletes have what they need to be successful, not only on the court, but in Life!”
